Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mariss Jansons & Frank Peter Zimmermann
Mon 14.5. 19:30
This summer’s Helsinki Festival gets a dazzling head start at Helsinki Music Centre with a one-of-a-kind orchestral event when the legendary Mariss Jansons conducts the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Visiting Helsinki for the first time, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks) is often counted as one of the top orchestras in the world. This spectacular orchestra actively plays all over the world and, in addition to its hometown of Munich, is regularly seen at the Carnegie Hall in New York and the acclaimed Lucerne Festival in Switzerland.
The chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2003, Mariss Jansons is among the best-known conductor greats of the past few decades. Jansons, a three-time conductor of the iconic Vienna Philharmonic New Year’s Concert, has also previously acted as chief conductor for Holland’s famous Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
The spring evening in Helsinki features the music of Rossini, Prokofiev, Strauss and Ravel. The expressive Frank Peter Zimmermann performs as the violin soloist.
