Deborah Hay: Lightening
Hay, an American experimental dance icon, has teamed up with a group of Finnish dancers to create her latest production. Lightening makes its debut at Helsinki Festival.
"Because I do not demonstrate when teaching my dances, seeing how each dancer's understanding of my spoken language is made visible through their dancing, allows me to learn non-linearly. I then take that non-linear experience and turn it into a linear one in order to communicate my choreographic choices to the dancers."
- Deborah Hay
Choreography & direction Deborah Hay
Dance Joona Halonen, Satu Halttunen, Anne Hiekkaranta, Jyrki Karttunen, Jenni-Elina Lehto, Vera Nevanlinna (Nevanlinna will be replaced by Nina Viitamäki on the 20.8. show)

Sound design Tuomas Norvio
Costume design Monika Hartl
Production Zodiak - Center for New Dance, Karttunen Kollektiv, Helsinki Festival, The Deborah Hay Dance Company
